Akutan Volcano & Hot Springs Trek, Duration: 3-4 days, Description: One of the region's most active volcanoes, Akutan last erupted in 1996. This trip takes you from Unalaska to Akutan Island to explore the flanks and fumaroles of Akutan, and numerous hot springs in the area. This trip can easily be added as an extension on any of our Unalaska-based trips, and is suitable for beginners. Trip cost includes round trip airfare aboard a classic Grumman Goose seaplane from Dutch Harbor to Akutan. Cost: $2020/person.

Makushin Volcano Summit Expedition, Duration: 3-4 days, Description: Makushin Volcano (6680 ft) is the highest point on Unalaska and the fourth highest volcano in the Aleutian Chain. An impressive climb, Makushin offers challenges for new and experienced mountaineers alike. This active volcano lies 25 miles west of town. Makushin Volcano is visible from the community of Unalaska on clear days. No experience is necessary for this trip, but it is a physically challenging climb. New climbers will have an introduction to basic mountaineering and glacier travel techniques. Cost: $1325/person.

Anderson Bay OverlookShaler Mountains Trekking, Duration: 5 Days, Description: This trip takes you into the Shaler Mountains of Unalaskia Island. The Shalers offer rugged spires, magnificent peaks and ridges, and high mountain lakes - unmatched beauty and wilderness visited by few others. Trip cost includes vessel charter to start point. Cost: $2575/person.

Shishaldin Volcano Summit Expedition, Duration: 8 Days, Description: Shishaldin Volcano (9372 ft) on Unimak Island is the highest point in the Aleutian Chain. This trip normally runs as a summit expedition of Shishaldin. Due to current levels of volcanic activity at the time of trip, we may rearrange the schedule to climb adjacent Isanotski Peak (8100 ft) instead. This trip is a great opportunity for a fascinating look at some of the most active volcanoes in the "Ring of Fire." Start point is the village of False Pass on Unimak Island.
