About Risk & Safety
We make every effort to run safe trips, and we operate with an excellent safety record. However, we cannot guarantee your safety. The Aleutian Islands are remote, with the potential for extreme weather, high winds, rough water conditions, and cold temperatures. Many of our trips are run in remote backcountry areas. There are no helicopters for hundreds of miles and your cell phone will not work. Satellite phones also do not operate reliably here, regardless of what the phone sales rep tells you. The final responsibility for your safety lies with you. With your confirmation packet you will find an Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability agreement. This form must be completed by the participant and signed before the participant is accepted on the trip.
Making Reservations
To make reservations, fill out a reservation form on this website, or contact us by email or telephone. We'll work with you to create an itinerary and gear list. Rental equipment and trip space requires a reservation deposit totaling 50% of the total trip/rental cost. For our longer trips and expeditions,the balance of the payment is due sixty days before the trip start date. Once your reservation is complete, we'll send you topographic maps or nautical charts of the trip area and a trip insurance brochure. Prior to your departure, you will need to fill out a Medical Information Form.
Cancellations
Aleutian Adventure Sports management and staff reserves the right to cancel any rental, trip or tour solely at our discretion, based on weather conditions, lack of sufficient number of participants, or for any other reason. "No-Shows," lack of preparedness or lack of proper equipment or clothing prior to trip start are considered cancellations by the participant. If reservations are cancelled by the participant sixty days or more prior to start date, participant's deposit minus a $50 processing fee will be refunded. If reservations are cancelled by the participant within sixty days of start date we will retain the participant's full deposit. Further, if reservations are cancelled by the participant within twenty days of start date no refund of cost or deposit payment will be issued. Aleutian Adventure Sports will not be held responsible for any other costs incurred by participant for transportation, airfare, hotel costs, or any other purchases or arrangements made by the participant in event of participant's reservation with Aleutian Adventure Sports being cancelled for any reason. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip insurance.
