Getting here:
Fly Alaska Airlines to Dutch Harbor, or catch the ferry. Unfortunately, the Tustumena Ferry is only making five runs to Unalaska this summer. So book early! Visit the Alaska Marine Highway web site for ferry schedules and information.
Where to Stay:
Currently, the only show in town is the Grand Aleutian Hotel. The Grand Aleutian Hotel has rooms for rent, two restaurants, and a lounge.
What to Bring:
The Aleutian Islands have a maritime climate, which means we get a lot of precipitation and winds. Our weather can change rapidly. Fog, wind, rain, and snow should be expected. Winter temperatures average in the upper 20s and lower 30s and in the summer you can expect temperatures in the 50s. In August of 20
07 we had an 80 degree day, however, so you just never know! Depending on your interests, dates of travel, and scheduled activities, your list of necessary clothing and things to pack will differ. Take a look at our gear list for basic guidelines, and contact us for details and more information.
